Softball Game Preview: Berkeley Prep Buccaneers vs. Clearwater Tornadoes

The Berkeley Prep Buccaneers will head out to challenge the Clearwater Tornadoes at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Berkeley Prep's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so Clearwater's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Berkeley Prep is headed into Wednesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They fell 4-1 to Academy of the Holy Names. That's two games in a row now that the Buccaneers have lost by exactly three runs.

Avery Powers spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Paige Quinn was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

Meanwhile, Clearwater came up short against Inspiration Academy on Tuesday, falling 15-4. The Tornadoes have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Clearwater saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Morgan Maske, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Berkeley Prep's record is now 10-8. As for Clearwater, their record now sits at 11-9.
