Recap: Yorktown Tigers vs. Wapahani Raiders
If the Yorktown Tigers were feeling good off their 61-15 takedown of the Muncie Burris Owls on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Yorktown fell just short of Wapahani by a score of 43-40. It was the first time this season that Yorktown let down their fans at home.
Several Tigers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lilly Sylvester, who scored 13 points along with 7 rebounds. The game was Sylvester's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Addy Barnes was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with 3 steals.
Wapahani's win on Tuesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Megan Luce, who scored 10 points. Another player making a difference was Emilee Thompson, who scored 8 points along with 3 steals.
Yorktown has yet to win a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 5-3 record. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Wapahani, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Yorktown will face off against Monroe Central at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Monroe Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday. As for Wapahani, they will head out on the road to face off against Winchester Community at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Winchester Community will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Indiana Rankings (they are ranked 281st, while Wapahani is ranked 105th).
