Basketball Recap: Skyview Takes a Loss

Skyview was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by the Monarch Coyotes 56-19.

Despite the loss, Skyview saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Reyna Martinez posted four points and three steals.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Monarch to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sienna Williams, who dropped a double-double with 25 points and 14 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Williams has scored at least a third of the Coyotes' points. Ginger Milot was another key player, shooting 78% from the field on her way to 18 points in addition to five boards and four steals.

Skyview's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Monarch, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Coming up, Skyview will welcome Denver South at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Monarch, they are headed away from home for the first time to take on Arvada West at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
