Softball Recap: Sandy Takes a Loss

Sandy has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 4.06 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Wednesday. They lost 10-0 to the Gresham Gophers. The Pioneers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Gophers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

This is the second loss in a row for Sandy and nudges their season record down to 12-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 11-5 Barlow (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 67.7% over those games). As for Gresham, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sandy will face off against Nelson at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Sandy's pitchers better be ready for this one: Nelson has averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season. As for Gresham, they will challenge Barlow at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Gophers will need to watch out since the Bruins have now posted at least ten runs in their last four matchups.
