Softball Recap: Weston Ranch Gets the Win

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Weston Ranch ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They won by a run and slipped past the River Islands Riptide 7-6. With that victory, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Baylee Santiago was incredible, going 4-for-5 with four stolen bases and four runs. Santiago is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Anita Orona, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

The win made it two in a row for Weston Ranch and bumps their season record up to 3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for River Islands, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.

Weston Ranch wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 13-6 defeat against El Capitan on the 4th. As for River Islands, they will take on McNair at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday.
