Basketball Game Preview: Smithville Smithies vs. Waynedale Golden Bears

The Smithville Smithies will square off against the Waynedale Golden Bears at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.

Smithville is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Norwayne just ended the team's four-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 55-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bobcats.

Meanwhile, Waynedale also suffered a loss in their last game, but this one to Chippewa by a score of 51-42. While losing is never fun, the Golden Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 345th, while the Chipps are ranked 141st).

Waynedale's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Smithville, their loss dropped their record down to 17-3.

Smithville was able to grind out a solid victory over Waynedale in their previous meeting back in January, winning 39-30. Will Smithville repeat their success, or does Waynedale have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
