Independence starts off right with win over Hillsboro

The Independence Eagles gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand Hillsboro a 2-0 shutout.

Independence was led to victory by the tag-team duo of Hayden Smith and Zac Layden, who scored both of Independence's goals.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Independence will take on Siegel at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hillsboro, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Brentwood at 7:00 p.m. on March 7th.
