Recap: Zionsville Eagles vs. North Central Panthers
After a string of five wins, the Zionsville Eagles's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell just short of North Central by a score of 58-55. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Zionsville came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while North Central is ranked 96th).
Zionsville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emma Haan, who scored 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caroline Sampson, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and five assists.
North Central got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kaiden Kreinhagen out in front who scored 20 points along with two steals. Kreinhagen continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Macy Loy, who scored 13 points along with three steals.
Zionsville's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-4. As for North Central, their win bumped their record up to 6-14.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Zionsville will take on Noblesville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Noblesville is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 57.3 points per game. As for North Central, they will be playing at home against Lawrence Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lawrence Central is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
