Soccer Recap: Marianna Takes a Loss

The matchup between Marianna and Rutherford on Monday hardly resembled the 1-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Marianna Bulldogs fell 5-3 to the Rutherford Rams. The contest was a 2-2 toss-up at halftime, but the Bulldogs couldn't quite close it out.

Nick Tocci and Eric O'Bryan scored all three of Marianna's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 16 goals.

Marianna's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-6-1. As for Rutherford, the victory got them back to even at 3-3-1.

Marianna and Rutherford could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Marianna (ranked 438th) will meet South Walton (ranked 94th) at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Rutherford will challenge North Bay Haven Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday down 230 places (437 vs. 207).
