Basketball Recap: Rolesville Comes Up Short on the Road Against Garner + How To Watch

Rolesville kicked off their season on the road on Tuesday and hit a couple of potholes. They came up short against the Garner Trojans, falling 64-44. The Rams were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2017.

Despite the loss, Rolesville saw an underclassman step up: freshman Zoe Whitfield posted 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Saniyah Farmer, who scored eight points.

Garner was led to victory by Aniyah Williams and Trinity Dunn. Williams shot 58% from the field en route to 19 points in addition to eight steals and six rebounds, while Dunn dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten steals. Williams is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last 12 games she's played dating back to last season. Sumayah Jones was another key player, going 6-for-9 on her way to 13 points and seven boards.

Rolesville has already played their next contest, a 35-33 defeat against Franklinton on the 21st. As for Garner, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 57-40 loss against Corinth Holders on the 22nd.
