Recap: Braden River Pirates vs. Palmetto Tigers
The Braden River Pirates won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. They suffered a rough 51-25 loss at the hands of Palmetto. Braden River was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Palmetto apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Despite the loss, Braden River saw an underclassman step up: Kelis Mcgrady scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mcgrady has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Emily Dalton, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds.
Braden River struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Palmetto posted 11 assists.
Palmetto got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sanaii Rich out in front who scored seven points along with seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Zamarria Green, who scored six points along with nine rebounds and two blocks.
Braden River has not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for Palmetto, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season.
Braden River will head out on the road to face off against Families Instructing Students HomeSchool at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Families Instructing Students HomeSchool's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Braden River has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road. As for Palmetto, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Southeast at 6:00 p.m. on January 31st. Hopefully Palmetto focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 23 on Tuesday.
