Basketball Game Preview: Destiny Christian Academy Lions vs. West Park Panthers

A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Destiny Christian Academy Lions duke it out with the West Park Panthers at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday... Destiny Christian Academy has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 199 points over their last three matchups.

West Park better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when Destiny Christian Academy really get things going. Destiny Christian Academy was the clear victor by a 60-37 margin over Grant on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Lions have posted since December 13, 2024.

Destiny Christian Academy's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaylen Valdez, who went 5 of 11 en route to 14 points along with seven boards and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jephte Tambala, who went 7 of 9 on his way to 14 points and eight rebounds.

Meanwhile, West Park came tearing into Monday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Lancers by a score of 51-41. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 336th, while the Lancers are ranked 1004th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Destiny Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 6-8. As for West Park, their win bumped their record up to 10-6.
