Basketball Recap: Crothersville's Win Ends Four-Game Losing Streak on the Road

Crothersville hadn't done well against Lanesville recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Crothersville Tigers came out on top against the Lanesville Eagles by a score of 88-81. This was payback for the Tigers, who suffered a 70-54 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Crothersville's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Beau Napier led the charge by dropping a double-double with 26 points and 11 rebounds. Napier has become a key player for Crothersville: the team is 4-2 when he posts at least ten boards, but 6-12 otherwise. Tymir Cromwell was another key player, dropping a double-double with 17 points and ten assists.

Despite the loss, Lanesville had strong showings from Nolyn Hall, who shot 62% from the field on his way to 23 points and six rebounds, and Braydon Hodges, who almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine boards. With that strong performance, Hodges is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Jaxson Payne, who almost dropped a double-double with ten points and nine rebounds.

Crothersville's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-14. As for Lanesville, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-13.

Coming up, Crothersville will square off against Milan at 7:30 p.m. on March 5th. Crothersville has given up an average of 62.8 points per game this season, so hopefully the team got some defensive drills in this week. As for Lanesville, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, an 87-38 victory against Medora on the 27th.
