Softball Recap: Mountain Crest Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Mountain Crest, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Green Canyon Wolves on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won four games by six runs or more so far this season.

Morgan Coulam made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off eight hits. Coulam was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Dani Alexander was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Allee Carlston was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Mountain Crest's victory was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 5-8. As for Green Canyon, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.

Coming up, Mountain Crest will square off against Logan at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Green Canyon, they will be playing at home against Ogden at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wolves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season.
