Basketball Recap: Eastern Comets vs. Rossville Hornets
Eastern easily dispatched Southern Wells last Saturday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Eastern Comets fell just short of the Rossville Hornets by a score of 58-56 on Friday. The Comets were not able to make up for their defeat to the Hornets from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.
Rossville found their leader in sophomore Brayden Thiele-Hahn, who shot 6-for-10 from beyond the arc and dropped a double-double on 31 points and ten boards. Another player making a difference was Cooper Dunn, who posted seven points and five rebounds.
Eastern has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.0 points per game. As for Rossville, the win was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 12-5.
Eastern wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 46-34 victory against Wabash on the 1st. As for Rossville, they will take on Fountain Central at 2:30 p.m. on February 8th.
