Football Recap: Orrick Comes Up Short

Orrick was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 38-34 heartbreaker at the hands of the Santa Fe Chiefs. The Bearcats were not able to make up for their loss to the Chiefs from their previous meeting back in November of 2024.

Despite the loss, Orrick still got an impressive performance from Xavior Gaskins, who rushed for 134 yards and a pair of scores, and also threw for 114 yards and two touchdowns. The Bearcats' leading receiver Parker Floyd was Gaskins' top target yet again, picking up 88 receiving yards and one TD.

Orrick's record is now 2-6. As for Santa Fe, they moved to 3-5 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Orrick will square off against rival St. Paul Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Santa Fe is set to take on their familiar foe Sweet Springs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
