Baseball Recap: Bishop Watterson Comes Up Short

It was a Battle of the Birds when Bishop Watterson faced off against Bishop Hartley on Wednesday. The Eagles fell 8-4 to the Hawks. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Hawks earlier this season, when they won 5-0.

Bishop Watterson got a good showing from Javi Serantes, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Serantes has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, Ben Uhlenhake made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and one double.

Bishop Watterson's defeat dropped their record down to 10-3-1. As for Bishop Hartley, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.

The timing is sure in the Eagles' favor as the squad sits on seven straight wins at home while the Cardinals have been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road. Meanwhile, Bishop Hartley will square off against rival St. Francis DeSales at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
