Softball Recap: Thornton Beats Skyline for Their Fifth Straight Win

Thornton waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They never let the Skyline Falcons get on the board and left with a 17-0 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 27-0 two weeks ago.

Mya Grady was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sophia Ornelas, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Abbi Trombetta, who got on base in two of her three plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs.

Thornton's record is now 16-2-1. As for Skyline, they are on a 25-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Coincidentally, Thornton and Skyline will both be playing Aurora Central the next time they take the field. The Falcons will head out to face the Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Trojans will host them at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
