Standley Lake hadn't done well against D'Evelyn recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Standley Lake Gators narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the D'Evelyn Jaguars 45-43. This was payback for the Gators, who suffered a 58-43 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Standley Lake's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Sydney Martin, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 21 boards. What's more, Martin also posted a 33% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Macy Palmer, who posted eight points in addition to nine rebounds and three steals.

Standley Lake smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in six consecutive games.

D'Evelyn's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ellie McMann, who earned ten points along with seven boards and six assists. McMann is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in each of the last three games she's played. Hazel Hermes was another key player, putting up six points and eight rebounds.

Standley Lake has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 19-3 record this season. As for D'Evelyn, their defeat ended a 13-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 18-3.

Coming up, Standley Lake will host Golden at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Standley Lake has won three straight at home, while Golden won nine straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for D'Evelyn, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Jaguars face off against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. D'Evelyn is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.2 points per game this season.
