Football Recap: Justice (JJ) Walker's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Cochranton over Lakeview + How To Watch

Cochranton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 46-41 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lakeview Sailors. The Cardinals were up 21-6 in the first quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Several Cardinals players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Justice (JJ) Walker, who picked up 113 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Walker showed off some serious burst, lighting up the secondary with a catch for 55 yards. Walker Carroll got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.

Don't try to pin the team's loss on the defense: they kept the trenches locked down and allowed a mere 1.6 yards per carry. The team can thank Cole Schmitt for the heroic effort on defense: he. Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for Cochranton; they were averaging 5.4yards per carry per game earlier this season, but in their last three games they've fallen to only 3.4 per game.

Lakeview had a senior duo take command as Owen Reynolds threw for 165 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 passes and Julian Zacherl picked up 80 receiving yards and one score.

Cochranton now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Lakeview, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-7.

Looking ahead, Cochranton will square off against Saegertown at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th. The Panthers will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Cardinals surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lakeview, they will challenge Cambridge Springs at 7:00 p.m. on the 17th.
