Softball Recap: Kewanee Comes Up Short

If Kewanee was riding high fresh off their 9-0 takedown of Orion last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Boilermakers took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge] Spartans on Wednesday. The Boilermakers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Spartans from their previous meeting back in April of 2023.

Kieryn Abernathy was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Macee Pickering was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one double, and one RBI.

Kewanee's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge], they have been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-6 record this season.

Kewanee wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 21-5 win against Mendota on the 24th. As for Ridgewood [AlWood/Cambridge], they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, an 11-1 victory against Bureau Valley on the 24th.
