Basketball Game Preview: Fossil Ridge SaberCats vs. Chaparral Wolverines

The Fossil Ridge SaberCats and the Chaparral Wolverines will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Fossil Ridge knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Chaparral likes a good challenge.

Fossil Ridge is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took their contest on Saturday with ease, bagging a 74-34 win over Delta. With that victory, the SaberCats brought their scoring average up to 52.8 points per game.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Fossil Ridge to victory, but perhaps none more so than Addilyn Sandstedt, who went 6 for 12 on her way to 21 points in addition to five boards and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Gianna Leone, who went 7 of 14 on her way to 17 points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Fossil Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Chaparral's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a hard 59-43 fall against Green Mountain. The matchup marked the Wolverines' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Chaparral's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-2. As for Fossil Ridge, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
