Baseball Recap: Kings Christian's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Kings Christian). They blew past the Avenal Buccaneers 19-6 on Thursday. This was payback for the Crusaders, who suffered a 12-5 defeat the last time these two teams met.

The team relied heavily on Caiden Irwin, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his seven plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Rusty Martin, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Kings Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Avenal only managed nine hits.

Kings Christian moved to 2-7-1 with that win, which also ended their six-game losing streak. As for Avenal, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Looking ahead, Kings Christian is taking a road trip to challenge Alpaugh at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Kings Christian is facing Alpaugh at the right time seeing as Alpaugh is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Avenal, they will welcome Orosi at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Orosi has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 6.7 runs per game on average), something Avenal will no doubt try to take advantage of.
