Softball Game Preview: Sunset Apollos vs. Nelson

The Sunset Apollos will venture away from home to take on Nelson at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Sunset will be strutting in after a victory while Nelson will be coming in after a defeat.

Sunset's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Silverton with a sharp 6-0 win. The Apollos might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Shelby Townsend, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. Gianna Micciche was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, after soaring to ten runs the game before, Nelson was a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They fell 4-1 to Southridge. The match marked Nelson's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Nelson saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Addison Osterholm, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Sunset's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Nelson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-5.
