Basketball Recap: Mccool Junction Extends Winning Streak to Seven

If Twin River wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played McCool Junction, they should've done a better job of containing Mapieu Kouchinin. The McCool Junction Mustangs walked away with a 65-53 win over the Twin River Titans on Monday thanks in part to Kouchinin, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. Kouchinin is crushing it when it comes to boards: he's pulled down at least nine every time he's taken the court this season.

Bryson Plock was another key player, going 6 for 13 en route to 16 points. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points.

The victory was the seventh in a row for McCool Junction, bringing their record for this year to 13-3. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy: their three-point shooting accuracy was 29.5% in those games and 37.2% outside of them. As for Twin River, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-10.

When McCool Junction and Twin River next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. McCool Junction will face off against East Butler and their 15-game winning streak at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. McCool Junction is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. Meanwhile, Twin River will try to stop Shelby-Rising City's three-game winning streak when the meet at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. McCool Junction is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.4 points per game this season.
