Battle Mountain is 2-8 against Rifle since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Huskies will venture away from home to face off against the Bears at 11:00 a.m. Battle Mountain is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7 runs per game this season.

The home team had won the previous four meetings between Battle Mountain and Eagle Valley, and Battle Mountain kept the tradition alive. The Huskies came out on top against the Devils by a score of 8-4 on Tuesday. The win continues a trend for the Huskies in their matchups with the Devils: they've now won three in a row.

Cole Lewis made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one run.

In other batting news, Jack Reed and Shaeffer Dodds8 did most of the damage at the plate: Reed went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Dodds8 got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most stolen bases Reed has posted since back in April.

Meanwhile, Rifle came up short against Coal Ridge on Tuesday, falling 13-3. That's two games in a row now that the Bears have lost by exactly ten runs.

Rifle saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Robbie Magnuson, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Rifle dropped their record down to 9-11 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Battle Mountain, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Battle Mountain suffered a grim 16-5 defeat to Rifle in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Huskies avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
