Basketball Recap: Nitro Comes Up Short

Nitro suffered their biggest defeat since December 2, 2023 on Wednesday. They lost 65-44 to the Winfield Generals. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Wildcats came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked second, while the Generals are ranked 31st).

Nitro's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 14-4. As for Winfield, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Nitro will face off against Wheeling Park at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Winfield, they will welcome Varsity Opponent at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
