Softball Game Preview: Edgar Wildcats vs. Tomahawk Hatchets

The Edgar Wildcats will head out to challenge the Tomahawk Hatchets at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Tomahawk took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Edgar, who comes in off a win.

Edgar came out on top against Phillips on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run second inning. The Wildcats' pitcher stepped up to hand the Loggers an 8-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

Not much got past Jorja Knetter, who gave up just eight hits to keep Phillips off the board.

On the hitting side, Isabella Kaiser was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April. Emma Hartway also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 11 runs the game before, Tomahawk was a bit more limited in their contest on Thursday. They lost 11-0 to Lakeland. The loss continues a trend for the Hatchets in their meetings with the Thunderbirds: they've now lost four in a row.

Edgar is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Tomahawk, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.

Edgar couldn't quite finish off Tomahawk when the teams last played back in May of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
