Baseball Recap: Roxana Comes Up Short

Breese Central hit Roxana with a five-run third inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Shells fell 7-2 to the Cougars. The Shells were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Bradley Herrin was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Sean Maberry made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

This is the second loss in a row for Roxana and nudges their season record down to 13-5-1. As for Breese Central, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season.
