Baseball Recap: Montabella Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Montabella posted their closest win since May 9th on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Marion Eagles, sneaking past 5-3. Five seems to be a good number for the Mustangs as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Mason Bogart made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 13 batters over 5.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bryton Strohl, who went 1-for-2 with one triple and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Brady Kieff was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

The win (which was Montabella's third in a row) raised their record to 9-15. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Marion, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-6.

Montabella will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Eagles: the pair will be back at it again later today.
