Oldham County faced Allen County-Scottsville in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Colonels put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 13-2 victory. The Colonels might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by six runs or more this season.

Oldham County got a great performance from Kailyn Claybern as she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits.

On the hitting side, Oldham County let Kayla Cartledge and Jozie Lashley run wild. Cartledge went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI, while Lashley went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Cartledge a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sydney Wirth, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Oldham County was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .655. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Oldham County's win bumped their record up to 23-5. As for Allen County-Scottsville, with the defeat, they broke their 15-game winning streak and moved their record to 26-4.

Looking ahead, Oldham County will welcome Henry County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Colonels have won 11 straight at home, while the Wildcats won eight straight on the road), something that'll have to change. As for Allen County-Scottsville, they will venture away from home to challenge South Warren at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Patriots' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 11.6 runs per game this season.
