Football Game Preview: Lamesa Tornadoes vs. River Road Wildcats

The Lamesa Tornadoes will head out on the road to square off against the River Road Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lamesa has given up an average of 35.2 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lamesa is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They walked away with a 48-38 victory over Roosevelt on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tornadoes.

A big part of Lamesa's win came down to the chemistry between Daniel Ramos and his top target Cylius McCurley. Ramos threw for 337 yards and five TDs while McCurley picked up 143 receiving yards and four scores. Deev Lugo was another key player, rushing for 127 yards on only 15 carries.

Meanwhile, River Road was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were beaten by Gruver 54-6.

River Road's defeat dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Lamesa, their victory bumped their record up to 2-4.

Lamesa couldn't quite finish off River Road in their previous meeting back in November of 2024 and fell 23-21. Thankfully for the Tornadoes, Alex Warren (who rushed for 193 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 7.1 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time.
