Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wilson Prep). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Weldon Chargers a 15-0 shutout on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Tigers in their matchups with the Chargers: they've now won eight in a row.

Abdiel Josiah Tavarez was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Parker Ginn, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Deandre Sellers, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run.

Wilson Prep's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Weldon, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3-1.

Coming up, Wilson Prep will challenge Northwest Halifax at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Vikings will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Weldon, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Warren County at 12:00 p.m. on the 26th.
