Softball Recap: Lincoln's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Lincoln and Monroe meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Railsplitters took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Trojans. The matchup marked the Railsplitters' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Alyssa Strickland was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That stolen base was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ava Greene, who went 2-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Lincoln moved to 4-2 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Monroe, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5.

Looking ahead, Lincoln will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Clinton at 4:00 p.m. As for Monroe, they will challenge Skyline at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
