Baseball Recap: Sunnyside's Losing Streak Snapped at Five Games

Sunnyside can bid farewell to their five-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They walked away with a 10-6 victory over the Tucson High Magnet School Badgers. For the Blue Devils, this counts as revenge for the 9-1 win the Badgers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

DIEGO GARCIA made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Sunnyside is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-7 otherwise. GARCIA was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on LUCAS MATA, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. SABINO GONZALEZ was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Sunnyside's victory bumped their record up to 10-7. As for Tucson High Magnet School, they now have a losing record of 8-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sunnyside will square off against Cienega at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Blue Devils' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bobcats have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. As for Tucson High Magnet School, they will take on Rincon/University at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for the Badgers and seven for the Rangers.
