Baseball Recap: Christian Academy of Greater St. Louis Takes a Loss

Christian Academy of Greater St. Louis fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Central Missouri HomeSchool on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Saints by a score of 6-4. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Saints this season, with their most recent defeat being a 9-3 loss back in March.

Kaleb Hardy and Tyler Jepsen were huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. Throwing, Hardy struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Jepsen struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. At the plate, Hardy got on base in two of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run, while Jepsen went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Hardy is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.

In other batting news, Dane Perry was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases and one run.

Christian Academy of Greater St. Louis dropped their record down to 1-10 with the loss, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Central Missouri HomeSchool, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 3-4.

While Christian Academy of Greater St. Louis had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
