Soccer Recap: Quitman Comes Up Short

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Quitman and Meridian had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Panthers might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Wildcats an easy 5-2 win. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Meridian this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-0 back in November.

Quitman's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Meridian, they moved to 4-10 with that victory, which also ended their three-match losing streak.

Quitman and Meridian will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matchups. The next time the Panthers see the pitch they'll take on Kemper County at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2026. As for Meridian, their break will end when they face Louisville at 7:00 p.m. on January 5, 2026.
