Softball Preview: Vancleave Bulldogs vs. South Jones Braves        
        
		
            
 Vancleave is 3-0 against South Jones since March of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success  on Friday. The Vancleave Bulldogs are on the road again  to play the South Jones Braves at 6:00  p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
 Last Wednesday, Vancleave sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  a  3-2  victory over Wayne County.
  Brooklyn Rhodes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered two  runs (both of which were unearned)  on one hit and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't  given up  more than two  walks in five consecutive pitching appearances.
 At the plate, Vancleave's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was  Kendel Northrop, who  scored two  runs while going 1-for-3.
 Meanwhile, South Jones waltzed into their game  on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Red Rebels  a   1-0 shutout.
 Vancleave has  been performing  well recently as they've  won five of their last six matchups,  which provided a massive bump to their 15-13 record  this season. As for South Jones, their victory bumped their record up to 16-11.
 Vancleave came out on top in a nail-biter against South Jones  in their previous matchup  back in April of 2023, sneaking past  15-14. The rematch might be a little tougher for Vancleave since the  team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
