Softball Recap: Wekiva Mustangs vs. Windermere Wolverines
Wekiva extended their losing streak to four on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 3-10 in the process. They lost 18-1 to the Windermere Wolverines. The Mustangs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Wolverines from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.
As for Windermere, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 10-7. Considering they have won eight matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
For Windermere's part, Sophia Margelos looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Margelos has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, Sabrina Boyer was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Sophie Shaik was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, four RBI, and one triple.
Wekiva wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 14-4 loss against Dr. Phillips on the 15th. As for Windermere, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 17-2 defeat against Horizon on the 11th.
