Laurel is a perfect 5-0 against New Brighton since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Spartans will host the Lions at 4:00 p.m. Laurel is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.2 runs per game this season.

Laurel's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over Aliquippa. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Spartans.

Maddie Evans was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Mayci Lang, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Evans wasn't the only one making solid contact: Laurel kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. The Spartans are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, New Brighton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 18-0 to Neshannock.

Laurel's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for New Brighton, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

New Brighton's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Laurel has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11 hits per game. It's a different story for New Brighton, though, as they've been averaging 11.8 hits. Given Laurel's sizable advantage in that area, the Lions will need to find a way to close that gap.

Laurel took their win against New Brighton when the teams last played back in April of 2022 by a conclusive 10-0 score. Will the Spartans repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
