Basketball Recap: Mendon Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Ryder Gorham and Owen Gorham

Mendon lost against Colon back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Mendon Hornets fell 59-51 to the Colon Magi. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Owen Gorham and Ryder Gorham certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Owen shot 6-for-11 from deep and dropped a double-double on 24 points and 11 boards, while Ryder went 9 of 17 on his way to 19 points in addition to six assists and five steals. The dominant performance gave Owen a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of James Lux, who posted four points and five boards.

Mendon's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Colon, they pushed their record up to 10-2 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season.

Mendon won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Burr Oak at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Colon, they will be playing at home against Athens at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
