Volleyball Recap: Mesa's Luck Changes for the Better on Thursday

Mesa can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Skyline Coyotes. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 3-0 back in April.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Mesa was: they took every set by at least 11 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-7, 25-5, 25-14.

Mesa got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Trey Bosen out in front who had five aces and three digs. Those five aces gave Bosen a new career-high. Hayden Elicio also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

They weren't the only good server: Mesa was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 20 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least six aces in six consecutive matchups.

Despite the loss, Skyline saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Derek Castro had 24 digs. Castro has been hot, having posted 18 or more digs the last eight times he's played.

The victory got Mesa back to even at 14-14. As for Skyline, their defeat was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-17.

As of now, neither Mesa nor the Coyotes have any future games scheduled.
