Basketball Game Preview: Galena Grizzlies vs. Fernley Vaqueros + How To Watch

Galena is 0-4 against Fernley since December of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Grizzlies will head out to face off against the Vaqueros at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Galena's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four contests.

Galena is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nevada's top teams: Reed, who was ranked 18th at the time (Galena was ranked eighth). The Grizzlies came out on top against the Raiders by a score of 56-43 on Tuesday. While the Grizzlies didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-19), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Galena found their leader in freshman Sandra Quevedo, who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds. Julia Imse was another key player, putting up 14 points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Meanwhile, Fernley was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 37-32 to Damonte Ranch. The game marked the Vaqueros' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Fernley fell to 7-1. As for Galena, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.

Galena couldn't quite get it done against Fernley in their previous meeting back in December of 2024 as they fell 54-43. Thankfully for the Grizzlies, Jaelece Wasson (who went 8-for-13 en route to 20 points and four steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
