Basketball Game Preview: Blackwell Hornets vs. Veribest Falcons

Blackwell hasn't had much luck against Veribest recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Blackwell Hornets will head out on the road to take on the Veribest Falcons at 7:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Blackwell is headed into Friday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 26th straight game dating back to last season on Tuesday. They took a blow against Irion County, falling 84-19. While losing is never fun, Blackwell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1588th, while Irion County is ranked 658th).

Veribest has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were two points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 52-50 heartbreaker at the hands of Water Valley. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Falcons have suffered since November 21, 2023.

Veribest's defeat dropped their record down to 14-4. As for Blackwell, their loss dropped their record down to 0-8.

Blackwell was dealt a bruising 66-19 defeat at the hands of Veribest in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. Can Blackwell avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
