Soccer Game Preview: Genoa-Kingston vs. Dixon

The Genoa-Kingston Cogs will head out to challenge the Dixon Dukes & Duchesses at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Genoa-Kingston is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.

If Genoa-Kingston beats Dixon with three goals on Thursday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Cogs came out on top against Oregon by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday.

Ally Poegel and Samantha Wendt scored all three of Genoa-Kingston's goals, bringing their combined season tally to eight goals.

Meanwhile, Dixon's matchup on Tuesday was close up to the half, but then they kicked things up a notch. They put the hurt on Faith Christian with a sharp 6-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Dixon.

Genoa-Kingston's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Dixon, they now have a winning record of 3-2-1.

Genoa-Kingston came out on top in a nail-biter against Dixon in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cogs since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
