Basketball Game Preview: Apex Cougars vs. Cary Imps

The Apex Cougars will head out to face off against the Cary Imps at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Apex is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.

Apex lost 71-51 to Green Level on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Cougars can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 436th, while the Gators are ranked 15th).

Meanwhile, Cary didn't have quite enough to beat Panther Creek on Friday and fell 61-58.

Apex's defeat dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Cary, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season.

Apex and Cary were neck-and-neck in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, but Apex came up empty-handed after a 72-71 loss. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Cary's Jonathan Peery, who went 9 for 16 on his way to 26 points and eight rebounds. Now that Apex knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
