Softball Recap: Astoria Fishermen vs. Shadow Hills Knights
While it was Astoria who put the first points on the board on Thursday, it was Shadow Hills who put up more. Astoria fell just short of Shadow Hills by a score of 6-5.
Hailey Svensen was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Nayomi Holmstedt, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.
Astoria's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2-1. As for Shadow Hills, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-1.
Coming up, Astoria will challenge Banks at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Shadow Hills, they will take on Rancho Mirage at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Rancho Mirage has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed nine runs per game on average), something Shadow Hills will no doubt try to take advantage of.
