Basketball Recap: Ponderosa Takes a Loss

Ponderosa was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 11th straight defeat. They lost 65-40 to the Heritage Eagles. The Mustangs were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

Leading Heritage to victory were Skylar Peterson and Meilla Collins. Peterson dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten assists, while Collins went 6-for-12 to rack up 22 points. Peterson also pulled down eight boards, which is notable because Heritage is 2-1 when she posts at least eight rebounds, but 3-14 otherwise. Carol Belair was another key player, going 5-for-12 en route to 11 points.

Ponderosa's defeat dropped their record down to 3-18. As for Heritage, their win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 5-15.

Coming up, Ponderosa will take on Chaparral at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Heritage, they have already played their next match, a 35-32 victory against Littleton on the 15th.
