Football Recap: South Lakes Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

With a playoff win on the line, South Lakes rose to the challenge on Friday. They walked away with a 24-17 win over the Yorktown Patriots. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 29-28 back in August.

It was another big night for Christian Wyatt, who threw for 245 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 82.1% of his passes, and also rushed for 78 yards. His passing game has become a key predictor of South Lakes' success: the team is 4-1 when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 2-4 otherwise. A healthy portion of Wyatt's aerial production (108 yards to be exact) went to Nick Picarelli.

Despite the loss, Yorktown still got an impressive performance from Alex Hans, who picked up 105 receiving yards and one score.

South Lakes' victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-5. As for Yorktown, they moved to 7-4 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, South Lakes will head out to take on Westfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last. Yorktown does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
