Softball Recap: Mishawaka Snags Seventh Win in Last Eight Games

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Mishawaka ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Carroll Chargers 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Cavemen have posted since April 1st.

Camila Rameriz spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and -1 unearned) runs on three hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Lilly St. Clair was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Mishawaka has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9 runs. As for Carroll, their loss dropped their record down to 9-3.

Looking ahead, Mishawaka will be taking part in a tournament against Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Cavemen's pitchers better be ready for this one: the Saints have averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season. As for Carroll, they will take on Niles in a tournament on Saturday.
